Refund Policy
The Scientific Vision Journal (SVJ) journal is committed to providing a transparent and fair process for authors who wish to withdraw their manuscripts or request refunds. As an open-access journal, SVJ charges an Article Processing Charge (APC) to cover the costs of publishing and maintaining high-quality peer review and editorial standards. This Refund Policy outlines the circumstances under which a refund may be issued and the process for requesting a refund.
Key Aspects of the Refund Policy:
-
Article Processing Charges (APC):
- SVJ charges an Article Processing Charge (APC) for accepted manuscripts to cover editorial, peer review, typesetting, and other publication costs.
- Authors will be informed of the applicable APC prior to submitting their manuscript, and this fee is clearly communicated throughout the submission and acceptance process.
-
Refund Eligibility:
- Before Acceptance: If a manuscript is withdrawn before it is accepted for publication (i.e., before it enters the peer review process), any APC paid by the author may be refunded in full, minus any administrative fees incurred during the submission process.
- After Acceptance but Before Publication: If a manuscript is accepted but the author requests to withdraw before publication, partial refunds may be considered. The amount refunded will depend on the stage of the publication process, such as whether editorial work (e.g., peer review, copyediting) has already been completed.
- After Publication: Once an article has been published, no refunds will be issued. Published articles become part of the journal’s permanent archive, and fees paid for publication are non-refundable.
-
Non-Refundable Fees:
- Fees for services such as expedited peer review, special editorial requests, or any additional services rendered are non-refundable.
- If a manuscript is rejected due to issues such as plagiarism, data falsification, or failure to meet the journal’s standards, no refund will be provided.
-
Requesting a Refund:
- Authors who wish to request a refund must submit a formal written request to the editorial team. The request must include the manuscript ID, title, and the reason for the withdrawal.
- Refund requests should be made as soon as possible after the author decides to withdraw the manuscript, as delays may affect the decision-making process.
- The editorial team will review the request and notify the author of the decision.
-
Processing Time for Refunds:
- If a refund request is approved, it typically takes 4-6 weeks to process, depending on the payment method and the complexity of the request.
- Refunds will be processed using the same method of payment that the author originally used for the APC payment.
-
Exceptional Circumstances:
- In exceptional cases, such as administrative errors, issues on the journal's end, or other unforeseen circumstances, SVJ may consider issuing a full or partial refund even after acceptance or publication.
- Refunds in these cases will be handled on a case-by-case basis, and the author will be informed accordingly.
-
Impact of Withdrawal on Future Submissions:
- If a manuscript is withdrawn after acceptance or during the production process, the author may face restrictions on future submissions to SVJ, especially if the withdrawal was made without a valid reason or after significant editorial work has been completed.
This Refund Policy ensures that authors are treated fairly and are aware of the conditions under which refunds may be issued. SVJ strives to maintain a professional and transparent publication process while also supporting authors through any challenges during the submission and publication process.
